20 June 2011 is a Special NonWorking Day

Last April 26, 2011, President Benigno Aquino signed Proclamation 154 declaring Monday, June 20, 2011 as a special (non-working) day throughout the country. Jose Rizal, our national hero marks his 150th birth anniversary and this day is given as an opportunity for all Filipinos to commemorate Rizal’s patriotic deeds and sacrifices for the country.

Since it’s a special non-working holiday, it’s going to be a long weekend for those with a regular office job but if you’re like me who’ll be at work on that day, the following premium will be added on top of your regular pay:

First 8 hours: additional 30%

In excess of 8 hours: additional 30% of hourly rate on the said day [130% +(30% of 130%)]

Finally, some extra pay for the same workload. Oh how I love holidays! Oops, let me reiterate- I love working on a holiday! :)
